We're hiring a Senior Compliance Officer to own legal, financial, VAT, tax, and policy compliance across the company as it scales across two jurisdictions.
Role Overview
This role keeps the company legally sound, financially compliant, and protected on both sides of the business, the United States and Bangladesh.
You'll lead on legal, financial, VAT, tax, and regulatory policy matters, advise leadership on risk, and make sure both the company and its client work hold up to scrutiny in regulated industries such as healthcare, legal, finance, and real estate.
This is a senior role for someone with deep domain knowledge, sharp judgment, and the discipline to keep a fast moving company clean and audit ready.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Corporate Compliance
- Ensure the company meets legal and corporate obligations across its U.S. and Bangladesh entities
- Maintain statutory records, registrations, licenses, and regulatory filings
- Track changes in relevant laws and regulations and adjust internal practice accordingly
- Advise leadership on legal exposure and the compliant path forward
Financial Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure financial practices follow applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Support accurate, timely financial reporting and statutory disclosures
- Coordinate with finance on internal controls and compliance checks
- Maintain documentation that stands up to audit and review
VAT & Tax Management
- Manage VAT, income tax, and withholding tax obligations, including NBR filings and returns
- Ensure correct tax treatment across transactions, payroll, and vendor payments
- Keep the company current on tax law changes and filing deadlines
- Handle assessments, queries, and correspondence with tax authorities
Regulatory & Policy Compliance
- Maintain compliance with data protection and industry regulations relevant to client work
- Build and uphold internal compliance policies and standards
- Ensure client engagements in regulated sectors meet applicable obligations
- Run periodic compliance reviews and close any gaps
Contracts & Agreements
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, NDAs, and client and vendor agreements
- Flag legal and commercial risk in agreements before signing
- Maintain an organized, accessible contract and document system
- Ensure obligations and renewal timelines are tracked and met
Risk Management & Audits
- Identify legal, financial, and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits and inspections
- Maintain audit trails and corrective action records
- Report risk and compliance status to leadership clearly and on time
Internal Policy & Advisory
- Develop, document, and update company policies and SOPs from a compliance standpoint
- Advise teams on compliant ways to operate without slowing execution
- Train teams on relevant legal, financial, and policy requirements
- Act as the company's point of authority on compliance questions
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in compliance, legal, tax, or financial regulatory work
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CS, or LLB/LLM is a strong advantage
- Deep working knowledge of VAT, tax (NBR), company law, and labour law in Bangladesh
- Strong grasp of financial compliance, contracts, and regulatory policy
- Familiarity with U.S. business compliance and data protection frameworks relevant to regulated client work is a strong plus
- Sharp drafting, documentation, and audit handling skills
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to advise leadership directly
- Comfortable using and exploring AI tools in your compliance work, with enthusiasm and a genuine hunger to learn and grow
